A Practical Cognitive Model for Strengthening Learning, Performance, and Memory
By Dr. Sujendra Prakash
Memory and Remembering Are
Not the Same
Yet very few people know the difference.
We expect students to memorize a lot of
information, without teaching them how to remember it.
Billions of students have come and gone, and
are yet to come. Millions of teachers have been struggling day and night to
impart the syllabi to their students.
The Silent Source of
Academic Hardship
These failures are often attributed to:
·
Weak memory
·
Poor concentration
·
Lack of preparation
However, decades of observation and research by
me suggest a different explanation:
The real problem is not
memory failure.
It is a retrieval failure.
Yet life is lived through retrieval.
·
Examination test retrieval.
·
Interviews test retrieval.
·
Professional performance
depends on retrieval.
If retrieval is not understood, hardship
becomes inevitable.
I have designed a system that helps students
retrieve relevant information, especially during examinations.
The
4R Retrieval Framework
A Practical Cognitive Model
for Strengthening Learning, Performance, and Memory
Retrieval operates in four distinct functional modes:
Alternatively, students can also be taught
these skills so that they can use them more effectively.
The business application of this framework is
endless.
The 4R framework also applies to:
·
Professional performance
·
Corporate training
·
Interviews
·
Public speaking
·
Daily decision-making
