Secret 35/59: Extract the Common Factor
Whenever you see:
- A
long list
- Many
formulas
- Symbols
- Diagrams
- Detailed
explanations
Your first job is this:
Find the common factor.
Everywhere in knowledge, there is a common factor.
There is no information on earth without linkage.
But nobody will tell you:
“This is the common factor.”
You must find it.
Why Common Factor Matters
When you extract the common factor:
- You
reduce complexity.
- You
reduce memory load.
- You
strengthen conceptual clarity.
If you remember the common factor,
the rest becomes variation.
Example: Area Formulas
Take area formulas.
Square → Area
Rectangle → Area
Circle → Area
What is common?
Area.
That is the common factor.
Now, what differs?
Shape.
Square → side × side
Rectangle → length × breadth
Circle → Ï€r²
If you understand the common factor is “area,” and difference is
“shape,”
even if you forget the formula, you can reconstruct it logically.
This Applies Everywhere
In programming.
In biology.
In medicine.
In law.
In mathematics.
In social sciences.
Every chapter has a common factor.
Every group of information has a central thread.
Your job is to find it.
What Happens If You Don’t?
If you don’t extract the common factor:
- Study
becomes heavier.
- Information
becomes scattered.
- Memory
becomes weak.
If the study is becoming more and more difficult,
It means proper recording is not happening.
The study should become simpler as you proceed.
Not more complicated.
Think Like a Computer
When a computer downloads something,
You see a progress bar.
As it moves forward,
It becomes faster and closer to completion.
That is how a study should feel.
As you proceed:
- Concepts
should connect.
- Similarities
should become visible.
- Patterns
should emerge.
If not, you are not extracting the common factor.
Practical Method
When reading:
- Ask:
What is common here?
- What
is repeating?
- What
is the central idea?
- What
is the variation?
Write the common factor at the top.
Then list the differences below.
Suddenly, large amounts of information become small.
Final Message
Before memorizing details,
Extract the common factor.
Once you remember the core,
variations become easy.
The study must become simpler as you move ahead.
If it is becoming harder,
You are not organizing correctly.
That is Secret 35
