THE SUPRA WORKSHEET No. 5
The Price of Avoiding Stress
"What Am I Avoiding Today?"
Time Required: 15–20 Minutes
Purpose
Not all stress should be avoided.
Some stress protects us.
Some stress prepares us.
Some stress helps us grow.
Ironically, avoiding necessary stress today often creates greater unnecessary stress tomorrow.
The purpose of this worksheet is to identify the stresses you are postponing, understand what they may cost you, and decide whether they deserve your attention now.
STEP 1
What Am I Avoiding?
List up to five situations that you have been postponing because they feel stressful.
Examples:
- A difficult conversation
- Studying for an examination
- Visiting a doctor

- Making an important decision
| Situation | How long have I been avoiding it? |
|---|---|
| 1 | ______________________________ |
| 2 | ______________________________ |
| 3 | ______________________________ |
| 4 | ______________________________ |

"If I continue avoiding this for another six months,
the likely consequences will be..."
STEP 5
Necessary Stress or Unnecessary Stress?
For each situation, decide.

| 1 | □ | □ |
| 2 | □ | □ |
| 3 | □ | □ |
| 4 | □ | □ |

Ask yourself:
"Will facing this stress help me grow, protect myself, or improve my future?"
If the answer is "Yes,"
it is probably necessary stress.

The Supra Principle
Avoiding necessary stress does not eliminate it.
It postpones it.
Every postponement gives the problem more time to grow.
Every meaningful action gives you an opportunity to grow.
Choose the growth.
Weekly Reminder
Whenever you feel tempted to avoid a stressful situation, pause and ask yourself:
"Am I postponing discomfort… or postponing my own growth?"
Then ask:
"What small action can I take today that my future self will thank me for?"
